I suspect that these diplexers won’t do good with 6 GHz.
Good point, Iforgot that there is 6GHz. Diplexer has 5,8GHz sign on it.
Is it working on Turris 1.x? Because in FAQ it mentions kernel 5.15 as a requirement and currently 1.x has 5.10.
Another option would be 2 AW7916-NPD cards installed with 5 (optional 6th) antennas again not needing diplexers because the cards do the multiplexing themselves.
No telling if/when driver support will show up in OpenWRT/Turris OS though AsiaRF claims Linux drivers exist. Maybe these were used the next-gen Omnias that were made recently? Just guessing!
I tried ordering an AW7916-NPD to try/play with in Omnia and a Linux PC but ended up in backorder limbo so I cancelled. They say they’ll have more end of December. We’ll see!

I just noticed that Turris has updated the web home page showing WiFi 6 version using 4 antennas and AW7915-NP1.
I also saw on github and elsewhere that work is done to add support for the AW-7915-NPD version and the AW7916-NPD into the mt76 openwrt driver for 22.03 branch.

I replaced the original Compex radio modules with two AW7915-NPD modules from 524wifi in my Turris Omnia and they seem to run fine. These are two 2T2R DBDC modules so I’m able to set up two 2.4 GHz and two 5 GHz networks, for a total of four wireless networks, using only 4 antennas with no external diplexers.
On the 7915 modules with Debian kernel 6.0.10 the 5 GHz network is about half as fast as on kernel 6.1-rc6. So there is some patch in the mt76 driver that was merged for 6.1 that you need, otherwise the 7915 on the 5 GHz band is slower than the Compex WLE900VX (for me ~200 Mbps or less in 802.11ax mode vs. ~400 Mbps on the WLE900VX in 802.11ac mode). The throughput/range using 802.11ax mode on the 2.4 GHz band is much improved versus the original Compex WLE200N2 module.
Then, I replaced one of the AW7915-NPD modules with an AW7916-NPD module from AsiaRF and moved my hostapd configs for the previous AW7915-NPD module over to the 7916. The 7916 is supposed to be a tri-band dual band concurrent card that can run 2.4 GHz and either 5 GHz or 6 GHz at the same time. I can run a 2.4 GHz network on the 7916 just fine, but it won’t run a 5 GHz network at all. I did not try to get 6 GHz working on the 7916 since I don’t have an example of a working hostapd.conf and all the 6 GHz channels are showing as “no IR” for some reason.
On the 7916 hostapd starts up just fine but I can’t see the 5 GHz network at all (tried 3 different client devices sitting right next to the Omnia; one Android, one ChromeOS, one Debian). No diplexers, just three pigtails and three Taoglas GW.59.3153 2.4/5.8/7.1 GHz antennas connected directly to the card. And the 7916 card works for the 2.4 GHz network so I’m pretty sure I didn’t mess up the RF and antenna connections.

So my conclusion is the AW7915-NPD is usable if your kernel/firmware/hostapd are very up-to-date, but I’m not sure how to get the AW7916-NPD working. I see the 7916 listed on FAQ - Turris Documentation though, so I’m curious how the Turris team got this card working.
The only thing weird about my Turris Omnia hardware-wise is that it’s an original Indiegogo model with a Kingston SMS200S3120G mSATA SSD installed in the rightmost mini PCIE slot.

Not sure if not having this patch is the cause of my problem with the 7916 card, though.
Thanks a lot for sharing this information here. I wonder if mentioned latest kernel patch for mt7915 could be backported by team into current 5.15.78 kernel ? For mt7916 further development probably has to be made in future to make it working.
We already have this patch since Turris OS 6.0.0.
OK, I pulled out the mSATA card with my Debian installation on it and flashed the latest medkit onto the eMMC and installed TurrisOS 6. Then I updated to hbk and installed the kmod-mt7916-firmware
package. Also I ran nor-update
to flash the boot loader.
This works great now, the 5 GHz band on the 7916 card is working and I can get around 600-700 Mbps with 160 MHz channel width. Also, the 7915 card seems to be faster as well (400-500 Mbps).
I don’t see any way to use the 6e channels, though. They are showing up as “no IR” in iw phy
and there are some weird diagnostics logged by foris-controller when I open the Wi-Fi settings in the web interface.

Any advice on 6Ghz antennas?
I’m shopping for 6E antennae! Currently I’ve found Wallys DRA24126ESBE on Ali Express for moderately high prices but exhorbitant shipping! Also there are ANT-W63WS5-RPS from Mouser and others which are probably the better option when they come into stock here in the US at least.
