WiFi 6 (ax) adapter

So has anyone confirmed that the AW7916-NPD works or doesn’t work? 7915-NP1 + 7916-NPD would give you tri-band concurrent.

Probably soon.

will mt7921 work? I see some cheap pci cards on ali

Turris made a wifi 6E Omnia.
It would be nice to know the PCIe configuration.

I just ordered a MOX Classic and I plan to use it as dumb access point. But I want to upgrade it to WiFi 6E. Both the preinstalled and the SDIO card are not needed for me at the moment.

Can someone confirm if this is the correct card I need to buy? Can I use it in MOX? Do I need anything more?

You’ve found a M.2 card. Omnia has only mPCIe slots. So you’ll need a m.2>mPCIe converter and a lot of luck for that contraption to work. My experience with these adapters is that sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.

That means there is currently no “native” way to get WiFi 6E on Turris devices?

And what about… AsiaRF AW7916-NPD ?

Hmm. Is it this one? AsiaRF AW7916-NPD - TechInfoDepot

Datasheet here says: Operating Frequency 5 GHz

But what about the WiFi 6E 6GHz frequency?

so I’ve ordered and received this cheap AX pci card Wi Fi 6 MT7921 1800Mbps Dual Band 2.4G/5Ghz 802.11AX For Bluetooth5.2 Mini PCIE Wireless WiFi Card Network Card For Windows10/11| | - AliExpress → payed 15euros total with a new account 4euros voucher.
it works with kmod-mt7921e drivers
After playing with it during congestion times (evening when all my neighbors are home) and my only wifi6 client (old s10e) I can say it’s a good start into AX world.
max 110/120 on 2.4GHz and around 350mbps on 5GHz.
Range is a little bad but it’s most likely because I used cheap pigtails and antennas.
It’s also 6GHz capable (wifi6e) but I don’t have clients and didn’t manage to enable it

read the whole article, not just the summary on the side; it says:

supports 3×3 with 2 Spatial Streams for either 5 or 6GHz

Combine the two (AW7915-NP1 & AW7916-NPD) and you’ll have all 3 bands with a pci slot to spare!

Had someone tried this Wallys/industrial 2×2.4GHz 2x5GHz MT7915 MT7975 MiniPCIe Module 2T2R Network Card DR7915 WiFi6| | - AliExpress ?

Will it works same as AsiaRF cards in Turris ?

Does that require 7 antennas?

I expect 6 antennas would be required with 7th being optional for (3rd plug on) AW7916. Good news is that the duplexers would no longer be needed!

The Wallys card appears similar to the AW7915-NPD except it’s not described as dual band, dual concurrent. The description does say “up to 1.8 Gbps” which implies DBDC. I haven’t yet seen reports that the AW7915-NPD works in Omnia though.

Yep, 5,4Gbit (due to WIFI6E bandwidth) on current Indiegogo Omnia is confusing me.

A dumb question… How do you connect 7 antennas if the card only has 3 connectors?

AW7915-NP1: 4 antennas fot 5ghz
AW7916-NPD: 3 antennas for 2.4ghz and 6ghz

That is for 3 band configuration without diplexers.
