Hi,
A few days after update to 3.7, the Lte connection stopped working.
Gcom provides the following output:
gcom -d /dev/ttyUSB2
**SIM ERROR***
Check device port configuration.
Check SIM is inserted
Test SIM in a mobile phone?
Uqmi provides the following output:
uqmi -d /dev/cdc-wdm0 --get-signal-info
{
"type": "hdr",
"rssi": -125,
"ecio": 5,
"io": -106,
"type": "wcdma",
"rssi": -73,
"ecio": 14
To me it seems, based on this that the provider does not provide any Lte signal. I called them but they said they are not aware of any problem in the area and they also said that the sim card is registered with the network even if gcom reports error.
Nevertheless the quality of the “wcdma” signal seems good enough.
I am trying to pinpoint the problem but I am not close to the router to test the sim card.
I am wondering if i need to change any modem settings in order to connect with “wcdma” and not Lte signal.
Yesterday I tested the card which worked fine in a mobile phone but at a different location.
It seems like a provider/network issue. I will test again at the original location.
Yesterday I tested the card which worked fine in a mobile phone also at the original location.
After the test, the card was inserted in turris omnia but i still get SIM ERROR.
I will ask for a new sim card and test again.
The card from a different provider works fine
Now that the new SIM card is activated, it’s working!
I think the SIM slot is sensible, the previous SIM card I used was a nano SIM I put back in its mini SIM adapter. The one I’m using right now has never been put out of its mini SIM adapter.
A contact on Twitter told me that 2 types of SIM cards exist: 3 volts and 5 volts. Depending on the device, 5 volt SIM cards could be incompatible with some cellphones (and modems by the way). Could someone from Turris team confirm that both types of SIM card are compatible?
An issue without the passive cooler? The device is running pretty cold, so I don’t see the point.
I changed the SIM card, no PIN code, uqmi et gcom seems to work correctly, but I can’t bring the interface up:

By the way, about the passive cooler, if someone could give me the dimensions of the block (excluding the thermal pad), I could get and aluminium equivalent.
Hi, to me it seems the same error as mine, which I thought it was a network error due to wcdma signal only. I believe It would be interesting if you have an other sim card from the same provider to test the quality of the signal (no data is needed).
My omnia is at a remote location so I can not help you with the dimensions.
Check the signal quality. If gcom signal quality is below 20, usually mine does not connect.
After connection, my ipv4 gateway is also 10.64.64.64.
Usually, it takes about 10 minutes for me to connect after disconnection when signal quality is above 20.
I tried to ping a remote IP, I see the ping, so it should be an issue with the return route.
Forget my reply, the carrier is blocking ICMP…
But then, I don’t know how I will make mwan3 work without ICMP checks. Thanks anyway.
