Daily unwanted restarts

Few days ago my router started restarting. Restarts are unwanted, unplanned etc. Uptime is about 15 to 23 hours. I have not any logs now, because syslog writes to tmpfs. I changed it to persistent storage, so I will see.

I noticed this behavior in Fridays night. Router was much more stable before, just I2C bus was freezing unless power off the router (it was two times per week, no log entry just I2C bus no response).

Do anybody have similar behavior?

Please check the router casing around rear reset button. There may have been a problem in the manufacturing which could make the button unstable and susceptible to random presses.

This is not this problem… Reset button is correctly in hole, when pressed noisy and clear click is audible and no action is performed before this click. By the way, router is in stable position, last restart was before one hour, when nobody was home.

I noticed it just today. First reboot I noticed was at cca 4 am and second one at cca 9 pm. I setupped my log to go to drive too. I will see what I can get from it. I am not sure what could cause it, but I encountered it only on router I have at home. Work router seems to be not affected. So I will see.

If you have some output from log, please post it. Thank you.

Yesterday around 11pm I noted, that my turris has restarted for no reason. Before I had uptime of several days. I’ll see what happens now.

I had similar problem last Friday - I came home and the router was restarting every 2-10 min. Even browsing was unusable… I had to factory reset it, that helped. Question is, for how long.

i had about 5 unwanted resets this morning.
it became stable as i was connecting a serial console to get log output.
It really puts a big question mark on Omnia’s stability…

Two unwanted restarts today and I2C blocked whole day (No weather measuring whole day! I am really angry!) I2C was blocked during unwanted restart until I restarted router by unplugging them from power.

By the way, when I become home, I found router with ALL LEDs turned on with green light (like when “rainbow” is restarted).

Same for me, random restarts when I don’t expect it. Frustrating!

Guys do you have some output, which would help Turis Team to find the cause?
I can understand and I think we all can understand that it is frustrating, but if they don’t have cause, it’s usually hard to find cause.

is there easy way how to put them 2.5k lines long text?

By the way, there is extremely nothing interesting about restarts in the log…

unwanted restart, few lines before, few lines after boot:

do you all have crytodev enabled? also OCF module installed?

LE - fyi - 2 reboots today

another reboot today at 11am, after 3 days running without problem

actually I installed kmod-crypto-ocf before the strange restarts, could it be related? But I just measured the openssl speed, that’s it.

According to the log above it seems related.
I uninstalled mine and rebooted.

When you log into luci and go to Services > Watchcat, by default it is set to reboot on connection loss. Try deleting that rule and see if that helps.

I don’t have any rule in watchcat

I found some rules in watchcat. I deleted it and router rebooted few minutes after --> no change.

@maurer : please, where you see relation between crypto* and ocf in log?

@maurer: Edit: OK, I am almost blind, I see it now… BUT! This bug did not caused restart. Router restarted few hours before and few hours after.

Are the logs saved in a specific file?
The Kernel logs reset at every reboot, how can I save them in a different location?

My kernel log is full of these entries:
