I already had this topic in a separate post, was redirected to his post by @bamf.
I completely reflashed the router a month ago, only set up Adblock and SQM, everything else standard.
Then it worked again, after the update to 7.1.3 the whole thing came back now…
Maybe this is a clue where you can investigate?
Something like this must work by default, I don’t feel like experimenting…
Now comes the really interesting part of the story…
I just changed the DNS forwarding from “Digitale Gesellschaft” back to “Quad9” for testing purposes and since then the problem has gone away…
And that for days and now comes the real point!
The memory consumption as well as the cache has simply dropped by 250MB on average and this is absolutely constant.
I expressed myself somewhat incorrectly, I meant the memory of the overall system! The “used” and the “cached” suddenly dropped by around 250MB when the DNS forwarding was changed.
And it remains consistently low!
I can’t deduce anything conclusive from this.
And the phenomenon that the Kresd process continues to inflate has also disappeared, at least until now…
Changing the DNS forwarding was also the only change!
I hope you can do something with this information.
Changing anything in configuration makes the process restart, so an instant drop in usage is to be expected if there’s a memory leak. But the “cached” part is confusing to me so far.
Memory consumption was previously consistently around 250MB higher with “Digitale Gesellschaft” than now with “Quad9”.
I can only report my observations, at least Kresd’s hunger for memory has now disappeared in one fell swoop…
