The MOX reset interface totally confsuses me. The guide and the supposed way is waaay to complicated.
Especially coming from the omnia (which was dead simple) this feels nearly impossible to do.
1. Specify what LED to look at
The standard configuration (main, 4 ethernet jacks) has
- 1 LED at the front USB port
- 2 LEDs at the WAN Etherner port
- 4 LEDs at the 4 LAN ports
What LED should I look at?
2. Easier reset modes
A few core ideas.
- only a single LED should light up. All the others should be black
- users should need to press that button once, long. Maybe twice. But not that often
- Blinking indicates something is changed
- static “on” indicates something is on or ongoing
- “off” indicates something is off or making a pause
- the modes should be indicated by the amount the LEDs blink
- there is no need for a “yes I really want to do this”. Simply add a phase at the end where the action can be cancelled.
My suggestion for the pin-LED interface:
- Press pin and plug charger in
- LED blinks immediately and constantly as the pin is pressed
- LED goes off for like 5 seconds
- LED blinks once, hold, LED goes off for 5 seconds
- LED blinks twice, hold, LED goes off for 5 seconds
- Repeat
- Once you let go, the LED goes off for 15 seconds. If you press the button again, the action is cancelled.
- When the action runs, the LED goes permanently on. Pressing the button does not do anything.
This would make way more sense, do you agree?
