SSD Suggestions

Hi, just for the update. I purchased the below one. Partitioned into 4, one for /srv, one for nas etc., no issues.

just to somewhat jump to Nones’ defense here: i also have a model where the posts on the two left (originally empty + originally big wifi card) pcie cards aren’t movable. see pictures. i’ll try to get some more posts, they seem standard enough, but i agree it is annoying to have to get extra equipment now.

[second image separately, since i’m a newly subscribed user and the forum has limitations like “can only post 1 media attachment per post” …]

That’s pretty annoying. Those shorter posts look like they’re pressed in. It could be they’re just soldered though.

To reply to my own post, since the “permanent” posts are in the long position, if your card is a shorter one, you can just put posts in the shorter position and it shouldn’t affect things. Alternatively, you can get card extensions. I got like a bag of 10 extensions for $2 off ebay or amazon. You’d need the screws for that though, M2.5. You can get the extensions with the screws too.

I was able to find some in my vast computer screw collection, but I’ve also been doing stuff like this for over 20 years.

@_dar_io: I have the same problem with my Turris (2022).
Did you manage to get the pressed in spacers out? If you did: how?
What spacers did you use as a replacement?
I have standard spacers for my Raspi which are M3 and 6mm. Do these fit?

I solved my problem, my spacers are a bit longer than the ones already on the board, so it’s possible to mount the SSD card slightly slanted over the spacers and avoid contact.
Nevertheless I think they should use screwed spacers again.

No need to discuss it in 2 threads in such a short period and also this thread is 3 years old.
