PCI SATA controller - HDDs won't spin

Attempting to build the NAS perk using these parts:

Good news:

  • Pins on the board have the specified voltage
  • Fan operates

Bad news:

  • HDDs won’t spin

Should the HDDs operate *just connected to the power cables? Do I need to enable the SATA controller or install a package?

Hello,
I feel like this is due to the fact that the cable has the opposite power over the omnipotence. It has a dropped 3.3V and 12V power supply. Minima what I see in the picture. Please check before plugging in as it could affect both disk damage and Turris.

Cable when connected to the power pins:

Connector (omnipotence?):

Is there wiring incorrect? If so, what adjustments need to be made?

Thanks for the help.

Hi,
If there is a fan on the yellow cable, so it is a bad connection. The fastest solution is to swap the yellow and orange (brown) wire into the connector. Then check that the fan is now running at full speed. Only after that I would have connected the disk to Turris.

I removed the wires (using the tip of a safety pin) from the two SATA connectors, then swapped the yellow and orange wires (and their associated black wires):

The HDDs spin, as does the fan.

When plugging in, make sure that this connection matches the attached picture
Green - 3.3 V
Black - GND
Red - 5V
Black - GND
Yellow - 12V - For HDD and Fan
