Opkg: install a package from a specified OpenWrt branch

I’m having issue with minidlna–I posted an issue on Gitlab.

The respondent suggested that I install a different version of minidlna:

It can be also useful to try minidlna version from OpenWrt 19.07 (not yet released) or OpenWrt master.

What is the process of doing so? Do I need to add a different feed to System > Software > OPKG-Configuration > Distribution feeds? If so, where in the repository do I find this? Do I remove the feed after installing the new minidlna?
