My previous router had Acces list for connection of mobile pfones, my wifi extender and communication module via MAC address.I am now considering choosing a new router. I would have liked Omnia Turris MOX, but nowhere could I find a way to do it the same way or otherwise with Turris. It is hard to believe that Turris would ignore IoT and smart home connectivity, which normally works with MAC addresses for wifi connectivity. If anyone advises me can ask Turris for a reward. If I don’t get an answer somewhere I won’t buy Turris.
It’s a good idea to review the documentation and this forum before asking.
In Turris, of course, it is possible to set the binding of the assigned IP to the MAC address.
The setting is done in Luci - Network - DHCP and DNS - Static Leases
Another option is to separate IoT traffic from the home LAN to a separate dedicated LAN for security reasons. This would eliminate the need for IP to MAC binding
Thank you very much for the answer that could solve my problem, really Turris forum is very useful. I don’t know if Turris team is reading the forum, but today people are starting to buy smart home routers, photovoltaic inverters battery systems, electric car charging control and there will be more and more. And if Turris would react to this by, for example, breaking this down at Academy number 21, they might be surprised by the interest of users in their routers, which really do probably provide secure internet, which is absolutely necessary for such users - one can imagine evil hackers controlling the router and dialing the boiler to the maximum and then asking for a ransom. I’ll really study it in the documentation,I’ll probably buy Turris and thank you very much again.
