The key difference between direct-attached storage (DAS) and NAS is that DAS is simply an extension to an existing server and is not necessarily networked.

Removing NAS via Foris is also removing all/any packages related to installing/detecting/mounting msata devices.

It would be expected that there is a distinction between NAS and DAS and that removing NAS via Fortis is not diminishing the server’s ability to mount msata (DAS) devices.

It doesn’t, you just have to install software you need like kernel modules that supports the device you want :wink: NAS is just a list of commonly used software that you might be interested in when considering NAS use-case. You can install whatever individual packages you want.
