If you are having any issues, feel free to reach our Technical department, which is available to you on tech.support@turris.cz. Among other technical issues, they can help you with identifying medkits and so on.
But as I am here and found your post, let me answer it. What you are looking for is described in our documentation. It describes the re-flash method by using the latest version in the Stable branch. Currently, there is a version Turris OS 5.1.2, but very soon it will be replaced with version Turris OS 5.1.3. On the homepage of our official documentation, you can found a warning box that it applies to Turris OS 4.0 and newer. So, if you are using the old version, you should take a look at our community wiki.
It would be really confusing if we would put there two medkits and users should choose which one. We want that users would be using the latest version, which is supported and receives new features. When they would be flashing Turris OS 3.x, then issues might appear during migration from the old system. All of this depends on the configurations done on your router and configurations can be unique.
If you are sometimes in trouble or you don’t know which files you are downloading, take a look at it. You can extract it and see what you are flashing on your router. I think you are looking for file turris-version or openwrt_release both of them are located in /etc.
I almost forget you might want to use opt-in migration from Turris OS 3.x to Turris OS 5.x.

I’m in the same boat as al3phy,
running 3.11.19.1 on my omnia (very stock, just a little customization on wifi config) and i’m wondering what the best way to flash 5.x is.
Your response suggests 3.x users should consult the wiki as documentation is for 4.x and newer. But the closest thing i could find in the wiki is this https://wiki.turris.cz/doc/en/howto/omnia_factory_reset which links back to the docs.
So does flashing with latest medkit ‘just work’ as described (i’m fine with losing my config) or is there anything else that needs to be considered when doing it from 3.x?
