Compare feed commit hashes between upstream and downstream

How is that supposed to be working? For example form the link

feeds/packages: 84f6fab447c8be80545ea2f8441326c1f3f21434

searching upstream git.openwrt.org Git - feed/packages.git/search comes up empty

https://git.openwrt.org/?p=feed/packages.git;a=commit;h=84f6fab447c8be80545ea2f8441326c1f3f21434

So I did much the same thing yesterday, searching without the last bit didn’t bring anything up for me. Why is the hash truncated?

For me the upstream code search basis

commit
The commit messages and authorship information will be scanned for the given pattern.

does not pan out with the commit hash. Not sure what the point of the search is when it cannot produce a result for the commit hash.
