Can't get IP address on WAN

Can you help with my issue, everthing appears to be OK apart from I cannot connect to the WAN.
I have tried a multitude of Cables including Cat5/6, rollover and crossover.
I have had my cable modem in modem and router modes but still could not obtain an IP address.
I have also set a static IPs on the Omnia with out any success
I am un familiar with openWRT and its commands.
Can you give me any pointers on what commands I could use to diagnose this issue.

Regards

If you have some modem between Omnia and Internet, it should be in “bridge mode”. Did you try that? After that, Omnia will probably need to be set to PPPoE to get the IP from your provider.

cable modem normally means DOCSIS, doesn’t it? my first thought was, cable modems in bridge mode lock up to a single MAC address, so if you connect it to another router, you need to restart it

Sometimes not only restart it, but keep it offline for 15 minutes, depending on ISP configuration.

I had the same issue. Check with your provider if you have to use a specific VLAN for the connection. If the answer is yes, check this thread:

Hi People,

Here is a quick update. I managed to get the Omnia coneected to the internet by setting its IP to 192,168,0,10 annd connect port 2 to port 2 on my Virgin Superhub 2. and configuring the gateway to 192.168.0.1 (Superhub)
So I was able to update the router and download ethtool.
My question now is should the WAN Port only be 10BaseT Half. Please the ethtool dumps.for theOmnia Interfaces.
