Best Practices for Securing a Turris Router?

Hello everyone,

I recently got my hands on a Turris router, and I’m impressed with its open-source approach and strong security features. However, I want to make sure I’m following the best practices to maximize its security and performance.

Here are a few things I’ve done so far:

  • Enabled automatic updates
  • Changed default passwords and SSH keys
  • Set up firewall rules and VLANs for segmentation
  • Disabled unnecessary services

I’m considering enabling Pakon for network monitoring and possibly setting up a VPN for remote access. What are the best practices for securing a Turris router, and how does a DevOps approach help in automating security updates and network monitoring? and can anyone explain me what is devops ?

I’d love to hear from experienced users about their setups and any potential pitfalls I should avoid. Thanks in advance for your insights!

Looking forward to learning from this community.
Best,
jisek
