Due to the lack of satisfying solutions, I decided to build my own. I wanted to:
- Not risk frying my router by accidentially shorting the wrong connectors
- Having a phyiscal button with reliable wifi status indicator (even if router is rebooted or I switched wifi on/off on the webif)
- Be able to connect multiple buttons throughout my apartment
Thus, I settled with an Ethernet based solution. The Arduino OpenWRT wifi button was born:
