What about Documentation?

Thanks for that link (I forgot about that… DOH!)! However, isn’t there any stuff that is Omnia specific (I’m thinking e.g. how to configure the marketed virtual (LXC-containerized) server for instance, and other stuff that may be Omnia specific)?

The reason I am asking is because user documentation and tutorials were mentioned as one of the “selling-points” of the Omnia during the campaign. The thing I am mostly struggling with regarding projects as OpenWRT directly is that documentation is directed at insiders (so not as much educating, but mostly simply providing technical specifications - expecting an extensive amount of background knowledge). I am trying to work my way into the open-source world, but I need guidance. I was hoping for this guidance (in the domain of routing / LXC-servers) in this project. So I was delighted to see educational videos for Omnia setup and configuration pop up as the $750k stretch goal:

I am confident cz.nic provide those Educational videos and cover how to configure the Omnia functionality (including LXC configuration as also confirmed by Bedrich):

Ofc. once the LXC-container itself runs, from there on it is one’s own responsibility what to run in it and how to deal with it! CZ.NIC are working hard, but can not perform Magic (or can they? )!

P.S. Also: All in its own time; as they are now currently working their *sses off to deliver the Omnia itself (and I respect that)!

You are right, that threre are some Omnial specific things. I believe that the documentation and educational videos wil be released as soon as possible, but I don’t thing it is a blocker in using the router if they are not available on day one.

I think they are working hard on manufacturing and shipping mostly now.

@richb-hanover - I do not know the anser to your question, sorry.

But documentation is seeping through! For instance rudimentary LXC documentation has been made available (I assume due to my constant nagging :nerd:)! And - seeing those place holders - I’m sure more will follow in time!

So looking forward to receiving my precious!

Mostly yes, there are some differences between old Turris and Omnia

Yes, that’s the source. What you can see in master branch is what was shipped.

@bedrich_kosata any update in this department?

English translations coming up? What about the idea for a wiki for the community to help you guys (or is the OpenWRT wiki actually the better / more effective place to start contributing)? There are fairly instructive posts on this discourse-forum, but they are spread over (and buried under) the other posts.

Maybe a more specific documentation/release time-schedule (to provide people with something more “solid” to hold-on when dealing their questions)?

Not meaning to push b.t.w., just curious about what is going on in this area (as I am sure other are)!

At any rate; thanks for all the work (I received my Omnia two weeks ago and am very psyched ever since - putting in every minute of my spare time)!!

IMHO this thread could be closed now - as the OP asked for the documentation plans, which are now layed out by cz.nic and to which I am happily referring!
