Turris OS 7.1.0 is in RC now!

Another bug - after any opkg operation (like un/installation of custom packages), the router says MCU was updated and a reboot is needed:

INFO:Executing postupdate hook: 96_firmware_updater

omnia-mcutool: further upgrade requires flashing MCU's bootloader firmware.

Flashing MCU's bootloader firmware is DANGEROUS: if a power failure or other
event interrupts the flashing process (which lasts several seconds), you will
end up with a bricked board, and you will either need to buy debug cables, or
send the board to Turris' customer support to have it fixed.

To proceed, add the --force option. You have been warned!

Hi @Ondrej_Caletka,

can you please post here your nftables table?

[possible bug?]

I’m getting multiple notifications a day like this:

Reinstalled package base-files from version 1517-7.1.0-r20343+128-4e1d1b7df0 to version 1517-7.1.0-r20343+128-4e1d1b7df0

There are two things I noticed:

  1. It repeats
  2. Both versions mentioned are exactly the same, which I’d expect the second one to be higher

The package in the message also changes over time, it’s not happening just to base-files, I’ve seen others too.

@muzikr another error on our Omnia

I believe the reForis NetMetr plugin was deprecated in favor of reForis LibreSpeed plugin. So you can simply remove the reforis-netmetr-plugin package I guess with:

opkg remove --force-remove --force-depends reforis-netmetr-plugin

I am seeing the same but I am on hbk channel… so maybe not the same issue as yours.

UPD: I have email notifications set up. So I searched for 1517-7.1.0-r20343+128-4e1d1b7df0 in the inbox. I’ve been getting them since Oct 18. Two-three times a day. I have about 30 notifications with this exact message as of today. Interestingly, I also have occasional notifications about other package updates, but those don’t have the same “from” and “to” version.
It’s HBK, by the way.

Same for me, also on HBK on a MOX. I don’t have automatic updates so I am not getting that many emails

Dear Turris users,

We just release the third RC for Turris OS 7.1. This one includes fix of icons in Reforis and finishes up updates of Reforis plugins.

:rocket: New Features
• reforis-netboot: update to version 1.2.0
• reforis-remote-devices: update to version 2.2.0

:bug: Bug Fixes
• reforis: Fix icons in dark mode

This is likely due to the frequent recompilation of the hbk branch, which is compiled multiple times daily. If any files are generated during this process, it can result in changes. This issue should not occur with the hbt branch. We’ll investigate further.

Turris Omnia 2020 7.1.0 RC1 → 7.1.0 RC3.

MCU was updated and a reboot is needed.

All seems O.K. HBT.

Thanks

7.1.0 RC1 → 7.1.0 RC3 update okay. No noticeable cable/wifi/internet interruption. Restart was not needed.

Turris Omnia 2017, 1 GB RAM, dead eMMC, system running from mSATA SSD, original wifi cards, UBoot 2022.10. Storage plugin enabled, LXC containers, tor relay, USB HDD shared over samba4 and minidlna, Syncthing, SQM, Hardwario gateway + MQTT IoT bridge, OpenVPN, PPtP VPN, Strongswan IKEv2 VPN, morce.

The visual bug in dark mode on Interfaces page in Reforis has been fixed.

Hi, What is the version of the underlying OpenWRT OS in this release ?

Thanks !

It’s all here for hbk

src-git-full turrispackages https://gitlab.nic.cz/turris/os/packages.git;master
src-git-full node https://github.com/nxhack/openwrt-node-packages.git;openwrt-22.03
src-git-full packages https://git.openwrt.org/feed/packages.git;openwrt-22.03
src-git-full luci https://git.openwrt.org/project/luci.git;openwrt-22.03
src-git-full routing https://git.openwrt.org/feed/routing.git;openwrt-22.03

in this version (Turris OS HBK), Turris OS pulls packages from OpenWRT Git repository, version 22.03.

If you select HDB instead, you will see this:

src-git-full node https://github.com/nxhack/openwrt-node-packages.git;openwrt-23.05
src-git-full packages https://git.openwrt.org/feed/packages.git;openwrt-23.05
src-git-full luci https://git.openwrt.org/project/luci.git;openwrt-23.05
src-git-full routing https://git.openwrt.org/feed/routing.git;openwrt-23.05

We just released a new RC that should fix this.

  • MCU seems that was updated again and a reboot is needed.
  • base-files reinstalled the same version.

Thanks

same here.
Update 7.1.0 RC3 → 7.1.0 RC4
All good

7.1.0 RC3 → 7.1.0 RC4 update okay. No noticeable cable/wifi/internet interruption. Restart was not needed.

I did not get the MCU upgrade notification this time…

Hi peci,

how can I figure out if I have RC4? Since I do daily restarts to minimise my wifi issues, I can not see changes in the log.

Thx,
Vienna

PS: Just to get an idea, how many are already using Knot 6?

If you check for updates and nothing is pending installation, and you are on hbt branch, then you have the latest RC installed.
