Turris OS 5.3.1 is released!

Everything went fine for me, I have an omnia and a mox. The mox needed a reset by unplugging and plugging it back in though.

MOX A(SDIO), simple AP-configuration (disabled firewall, dnsmasq and odhcp). Update went without problems from 5.3 to 5.3.1, but reboot failed. I had one more time to un- and replug the powerplug.
When will this problem finally be solved by Turris team? :unamused:

edit/remark: normal reboots work really smooth - but the critical ones have been and continue to be the ones from updates. Without this working automatical updates cannot be activated without update approvals…

I have had the same issue. The reboot after update failed in my Mox classic, similar to the updates before. I have applied the patch, v4. But it does not help for reboot after upgrade. The reboot otherwise works fine.

Does it affect all Moxes, or only a particular batch? Can one fix it by single part replacement? My Mox is not covered by warranty anymore, I bought it in Indiegogo campaign.

I own one MOX from Indiegogo (came with TOS v4.0b preinstalled) and one bought ~2 weeks ago (yet delivered with TOS v.4.0, so I believe there has only 1-2 batches been produced after Indiegogo campaign).
Both behave just alike, so I think there has not been any hardware revision.

i still get the shadow updates - although I updated last week today I got a

Hi

I downloaded and flashed the experimental firmware and the router was restarted twice, once from console, right after flashing, once from reforis web interface.
No action was needed after any of the particular reboots.

Let’s see after next upgrade …

Jakub

I think this is related to the issue I brought up:

If you install anything extra using opkg at least, maybe from LuCI, you will likely get this. But I’ve also gotten it after every update for a while.

My spare Turiis 1.0 lost does not see wifi card after update from 5.2.7 to 5.3.1…

Edit: Wifi is completely gone, there is no such thing in LiCI network menu. Seems I have to rollback.

A post was merged into an existing topic: Automatic migration is here!

What is the output of lspci and dmesg?

Has there been any change in this TOS related to HW side of Omnia?

As since my Omnia has been upgraded to 5.3.1, rear USB port stopped working again and has the same behavior I previously described in separate thread FTDI not working in rear USB Port. USB dongle was working fine (even with reboots) for a few months till this reboot with 5.3.1.

As of right now plugging a USB Hub to the front USB port and both devices to that hub fixed my issue but I’d like to get rid of that USB hub and use both ports again.

Is there anything else that I need to upgrade on Omnia after installing TOS 5.3.1?

This random problem happens to me from time to time.
Sometimes it helps to take usb out from rear port, restart (unplug the power), put usb into front usb port, restart (unplug the power) and put it back to rear port. Sometimes you have to restart (unplug the power) for few times. It usually helps, but once rear port wasn´t wroking for about 1 month.

I have no problems with the rear USB (I have a USB-3 RAID enclosure connected there). But it’s true I did the mPCIe card reshuffling (because of adding an mSATA disk), so it might influence the amount of interference the rear port gets.

I have moved my cards too due to the NAS perk and usb problem occurs on both rear and front usb ports occasionally.

I can try it during the weekend. It is spare router, so it is not my top priority for now.

My 2021 Omnia auto updated from whatever the last rev was to v5.3.1. Didn’t have any wired or wireless internet. Showed some single line error in the Notifications. Rebooted from the Turris dashboard and I now at least have internet back; not aware of any other issues.

Well, after some digging:

lspci result:

root@turris:~# lspci
8000:00:00.0 PCI bridge: Freescale Semiconductor Inc P2020E (rev 21)
9000:02:00.0 PCI bridge: Freescale Semiconductor Inc P2020E (rev 21)
a000:04:00.0 PCI bridge: Freescale Semiconductor Inc P2020E (rev 21)

Rollback to 5.2.7 didn´t helped. Even rollback to snapshot created right after update to 5.x didn´t worked.
/etc/config/wireless file was empty - I have tried to put there some data via LuCI and via internal editor from Snowflake ( https://github.com/subhra74/snowflake ) with no result. Have been trying to remove/iinstall athk10 driver but it gave me error.
What helped was installation of alternative candela driver via package manager in reForis.

lspci result after candela tech driver installation:

root@turris:~# lspci
8000:00:00.0 PCI bridge: Freescale Semiconductor Inc P2020E (rev 21)
9000:02:00.0 PCI bridge: Freescale Semiconductor Inc P2020E (rev 21)
9000:03:00.0 Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros AR9287 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)
a000:04:00.0 PCI bridge: Freescale Semiconductor Inc P2020E (rev 21)

Conclusion:
Wifi driver have gone somewhere during the update. Now, with candela tech, wfi is working again.

Good to know I am not the only one, but my second Omnia (older one, from Indiegogo campaign) is rock solid with rear USB port. I tired my luck and upgraded also that second one to TOS 5.3.1 and there is rear USB fine.

By the way, have you changed order of PCIe cards too? As I am also using mSATA disk in Omnias, so I had to change PCIe cards order.

You are definitely not alone with this problem. There are few of us.

Yes, my cards were changed due to sata to mpcie adapter.
