Turris Omnia 2022

Does Omnia Enterprise have SFP or SFP+ ports? There is only SFP in the specs document.

Now the question is whether CZ.NIC already has some production samples, or just prototypes as before…

Here the data sheet of the Omnia Enterprise NXP LS2080 …

They are claiming 10G on the SFP ports, so I’d assume it’s SFP+

Interesting…otoh, enterprise also means enterprise support and the whole shebang behind it?

While I like the features of the ā€œenterpriseā€ omnia, I have a hunch its price point is going to be outside of my range, if only as I would need at least 2 SFP modules even for simple wired routing… (the Turris RTROM01-RTSF-10G, SFP+ Copper module, 10 Gbps, RJ45 costs 77.39, so 77.39*2 = 154.78 EUR plus shipping, on top of the base cost of the router). On the plus side my omnia seems well suited for my 100/40 link for the foreseeable future so let’s see how/if SFP+ modules drop in price…

The SG1 looks like a decent travel router though (sure dual core a53 @ 1 GHz is not going to allow routing/traffic shaping in the gigabit range, but while traveling that rarely seems required). I wonder what it will finally cost.

Technically, the SG1 has the same guts as a Mox, so I’d expect it to be similar to its price: 200-250€

Enterprise omnia looks really interresting.
Massively overkill but high need to have factor.
Will be super interesting to see the final price tag.

The SG1 price tag is specified in the new letter as follows:

  • Retail price starting at 130 USD

I guess that would be without VAT tax.

Not sure what might be the extra options (as suggested by the ā€œprice starting atā€)… Memory? Battery pack? Cat4 vs Cat6 LTE modem?

Hard to choose, I want both

Turris omnia Enterprise:
Where can i order one?
Is it possible to just order the pcb? (No need for the case as itā€˜s going to be installed in an electric cabinet (ventilated) anyway)

dedicated router/firewall and a separate AP.
I’m in!
probably need to win the lottery first though

Too early to order, I believe. (maybe way too early)

I believe it is the final design. Yet question is valid, whether production has already started…

If Omnia Enterprie will has a SFP+ It’ll be nice piece of hardware. Also that portable SG1, but maybe at least 2,5GbE can be included. I stay tuned, because I’m interested in.

Yes, except that for six 1 Gbps copper ethernet ports you pay at least 6 * 20 = 120 EUR, for nicer 1-10 Gbps SFP+ modules even 77*6 = 462 EUR.
That is on top of what ever the base price of that unit is going to be. I think the ā€œenterpriseā€ in the name was selected carefully, for true enterprise-grade gear that omnia 23 is going to be ā€œcheapā€ for normal end-user all-in-one gear less so (even the current omnia is at the upper end of home gear). I am not doubting that it is going to be worth the money, just whether I will/can afford it, but that clearly is my own problem

I should start saving money from today.

Partially you’re right, but If they put CPU with 8x 10GbE support, so that will be step back to support only 1GbE. There are many variations, 2xSFP+ + 6x 10GbE wired connection, or only one SFP+ module for optical transceivers etc…
