Turris MOX, Vodafone DSL modem?

No idea but it has a 1gbps ethernet port so that would be useless if it couldnt?

Wait what? So it makes no sense. 100mbps max link rate.

Yay! But I dont need that much speed anyways, can sell it again

Why useless? Even bog-standard profile 17a allows sync rates above fast ethernetā€™s 100 Mbps (the Telekom limits that sync limit to 116.7 Mbps). And I believe 30a also allows > 100 Mbps sync rates.

That said the draytek site lists this for the 130:

  • VDSL2 Profile: 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 12a, 12b, 17a, 30a

so 35b is not includedā€¦ might still be a decent modemā€¦

EDIT: the vigor 165 is the model of draytek ā€œmodemsā€ that supports profile 35bā€¦

Yes I searched and didnt find one.

Wellā€¦

It seems I have cable internet??

I guess DSL still needs to be built in?

It stays interestingā€¦

If you have DOCSis/cable internet you will need a docsis/cable modem, DSL will not help at all. So first figure out what it will be.

Sidenote: to my knowledge there are zerofully opensource docsis modems around, but there are some that can be operated as bridged-modem in front of a non-provider router (and there is always double NATā€¦)ā€¦

you will be on cable instead of dsl? were you asleep while making that contract? :face_with_spiral_eyes:
whatever, this has the nice advantage that most cable routers actually DO support bridge mode ootb. even the cheapest ones like the ā€œvodafone stationā€. with vodafone, you can activate that via a simple switch in your ā€œmyVodafoneā€ account, no extra modem needed.

No need to be mean.

The landlord told me it was DSL, and Vodafone also advertized DSL.

So I assume they will set this up fresh? Didnt know this was a thing.

I already got a DSL modem now, kinda betting on that they set up DSL. As I also have a DSL contract?

well, excuse me for being a bit surprised to see that after you asked for several DSL modems, protocols and stuff you suddenly say ā€œitā€™s cableā€ . thatā€™s a bit ā€¦ weird, thatā€™s all.

VF sold you an DSL contract, although DSL isnā€™t available? how do you know itā€™s not available? because your landlord uses cable Internet? makes no sense to me. both techs can coexist just fine. but! youā€™ll find out sooner or later whats actually availableā€¦ :man_shrugging:

Vodafone tends to not offer DSL for addresses they serve via docsis. Occasionally, though documentation might not match reality and what an ISP thinks it can supply might not actually work out in realityā€¦

Well that sounds fun!

I have checked, they only offer DSL. But the box there looks absolutely like cable.

I will need to contact them.

Update: so the ā€œcableā€ stuff seems to be dead (but all around the house!). They say they will connect DSL, so I will wait and do nothing.

Hej, good luck. I really like to know how this turns out in the end.
