My take home message was that TOS9 seems actually doable within 2025, let’s see what kernel gremlins will postpone that transition
Hopefully beginning of 2027, can’t till end of year.
Cruel true: everything was ready to release TOS 8 (OpenWrt 23), but…
we found unstable behaviour with one of our distributed wi-fi card. We have´t enought capacity for debugging, so…
we skip TOS 8 and release TOS 9 (OpenWrt 24) with new kernel (but don´t worry, everything will work properly instead same kernel in TOS 7 and 8), but…
currently SFP not working, many Turris 1.x issues and (psst) one of our distributed wi-fi will not work anymore (different one, of course).
Meanwhile, we will relase TOS “7.2” (base on obsolete and unsecure OpenWrt 22) with new reForis port forwaring tab. We hardly work on this feature more then year.
Currently, after then more then four weeks, we hopefully release TOS 7.1.4 with ssh “world-holes” patch and of course, crutial reForis “few lines git” fixes.
Post is non inappropriate. Content was spoken during the InstallFest session and includes also public posts from this forum. I wish the Turris team all the best in their difficult staffing situation.
