Safe configuration changes

This forum is full of discussions about supported and not supported changes. Especially during updates there are quite lot of complaints about rewritten or lost settings.

How can anyone decide which changes are safe and where is better not to change some settings? Is it even possible to say this generally?

This is why you always make backups before you update, and use the “schnapps” to save images and revert back in case of issues. The Omnia is far from a finished and polished product, as evident by the ongoing development issues.
