Years ago, there was this article https://www.root.cz/clanky/firehol-nejsnazsi-firewall/ . Making setup of firewall really simple and easy. Almost like writing the letter.

Last week, during talk with friendly linux geek, it pop-ups again in my head. Project is still active https://firehol.org/ and have also similar tool for QOS.

there is also “template” for openwrt package see https://github.com/firehol/packages/blob/master/openwrt/firehol/Makefile
I can try (with no guarantee) upstream it in my free time, meanwhile you can compile it locally see https://doc.turris.cz/doc/en/howto/turris_os_build
