3.8.2 in RC: DNS fixes and more

Dear Turris testers,
we will release Turris OS 3.8.2 into an RC branch in following minutes. It is already tested but we would like to test it more You know, DNS is kind of a big thing and we did not settle only with DNS fixes in this release.

Changes are:

• knot-resolver: automaticly temporally turn off IPv6 if it doesn’t work
• mac80211: few fixes from LEDE
• nethist: fixed crash when too many interfaces are present on the router
• dnsmasq and swconfig: fix broken dhcp and switch after Turris Omnia update from factory
• nextcloud-install: better database handling

The whole Turris team wishes you happy testing and we are looking forward to reading your feedback!

Deploy for all should be on Monday.

I can not test, I do not have hardware and lxc can not be installed.

We just released 3.8.2 RC2.

There are:

• new kernel for better security
• new OpenVPN for better security
• possible fix for Turris 1.x random reboots based on the only log we got from the tester. Worked for us too

There was no change in qca9888 firmware in 3.8.2 Did it happen just once or can you reliably reproduce it on your card?

Sorry it was my mistake. The change was in ath10k-firmware-qca988x.
I had installed the ath10k-firmware-qca9888-ct. This crashed periodically. Now I have the ath10-firmware-qca9888 installed, this works without problems. A question still: The firmware is only copied with a Power on/off new on the Wlan module and not with a restart?

Po update na v3.8.2. nefunguje moutovaní externích disku, nefunguje internet…

Rodinka v panice restartla router stylem zásuvka OFF/ON (což byla chyba, teď mají nefunkční 3.8.2 a pak spustili poplach. Na dálku se mi zprostředkovaně podařilo zjistit následující -> vypadá to minimálně na problém iptables -> kernel verze/modul verze ??? více info až se večer dostanu k routeru. Na dálku s pomocí potomka vymazána MMC, reboot do verze 3.8.1 z NAND a zatím funkční, dnešek tedy snad po návratu domů přežiju a pošlu další info, pokud mě někdo nepředběhne

Píši sem, protože do českého vlákna o uvolnění v3.8.2 se pro jistotu nedá nic postnout

To stejné jsem jim psal hned po vydání RC2, logy již mají od včerejška, ale stejně to vydali

Koukám se, no asi nějaký šotek při testování (pořád doufám, že situace, kdy jakýkoliv update rozbije router tak, že nefunguje ani přístup na internet, je jen dočasná a jednou se to zlomí :-)) Pravdou je, že pověst routeru coby spolehlivé síťové komponenty o které se léta neví, poněkud úhlem pohledu na Turris poslední dobou trpí

Ano mohu potvrdit. Po aktualizaci na 3.8.2 mého Turrise 1.0 jsem si akorát všimla po restartu na seriové konzoli něco jako “no kernel image found” a nic nefungovalo, wifi, ethernet, disky etc.
Tak mě to už naštvalo a rovnou si udělala migraci na UBIFS a bootovat z MicroSD kvuli btrfs a schnappsu. To se kupodivu vše provedlo. Akorát během provozu se zase odpojily disky (síť fungovala), po restartu to zase na 3.8.2. chvilku jede… ale je tam něco špatně.

Já se po lan kabelu dostanu normálně ke správě routeru, naštěstí to nemusím řešit seriovou linkou. Jen ty disky mě nenapadlo zkontrolovat. Každopádně taky mě zachránilo btrfs, bez něj bych mel mrtvou kostku.
